Adam Czapla
My interest as a designer heavily builds upon my passion for fabrication. During undergrad, the University of Illinois gave me the opportunity to explore a variety of techniques such as woodworking, 3D printing, and laser cutting. These tools and processes laid the groundwork for me as I continued my exploration of manufacturing including work with electronics, coding, and robotics. My goal as a future architect is to effectively integrate these tools into my design process to help create buildings that are innovative and adhere to the needs of the users of the space.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois in Spring 2021. While the latter half of my education was impacted by Covid-19, I was still able to be involved with the university. I served as President of the Architecture Student Advisory Council (2019- 2021) and Vice President of both Alpha Rho Chi (2019-2020) and the Architecture Ambassadors (2019-2020). Additionally, I assisted the student run magazine Ricker Report as a graphic designer and worked at the architectural supply store Blackline Supply.
Since graduating I have moved on to pursuing my Master of Architecture with a concentration in Building Performance here at the University of Illinois. In addition to my coursework, I serve as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for Professor Randy Deutsch’s ARCH 231: Anatomy of Buildings and work as a researcher for the Army Corps of Engineers.
