Francisco J. Rodriguez-Suarez Receives Nathan Clifford Ricker Award for Architecture Education
Francisco J. Rodríguez-Suárez, the director of the School of Architecture adds to his long list of accolades this week as the new recipient of the Nathan Clifford Ricker Award for Architecture Education from the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
The AIA Illinois Honor Awards “recognize people and projects epitomizing the contributions of the architecture profession, the transformative power of design, and the dedication of individuals to service and excellence.” Award winners are selected based on their work with communities across Illinois, and how their influence has helped grow these places into areas where people can live happier and healthier lives.
In the initial announcement this week, AIA described Rodríguez-Suárez’s impact at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign: “As Director, he has paved the way for the [School of Architecture] to remain both flexible and relevant. He has also repositioned the [school] at the forefront of the academic and professional discourse, expanding its international footprint and relevance, and finally designing, and building bridges and collaborations between the school and a world that is more connected than ever.”
